Cops among 12 hurt in Gaibandha clash

GAIBANDHA: At least 12 people were injured, including three police personnel, in a clash between law enforcers and 18-party activists at Mirganj village under Sundarganj upazila of the district on Monday afternoon.

Witnesses said activists of 18-party alliance brought out a procession demanding cancellation of the results of the 10th national polls in the area around 1:00pm.

On information, police rushed in and they locked into a clash with the activists of 18-party alliance.

Police opened fire to disperse them and take situation under control, leaving 12 people injured including three police personnel.

Officer-in-Charge of Sundarganj Thana Kaysar Ali Khan told banglanews that additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avert further violence.
