Dhaka: Former State Minister for Education Ehsanul Hoque Milon Monday got an interim bail in a case filed by the Election Commission.

A High court bench of justice Siddiqur Rahman Mia and justice Krishna Devnath granted the three-month ad-interim bail to Ehsanul Hoque Milon. The High court also issued a rule upon the government to show cause as to why he should not be granted bail permanently.

Returning officer of Chandpur district Mezba Uddin Ahmed, during the parliamentary polls in 2009, filed the case against Milon, a BNP leader, with Chadpur Model Thana on July 28, 2009 for his failure to submit his election expenditure return in the stipulated time.

Ehsanul Hoque surrendered before court on March 15, 2010 and sought bail. Turning down his bail appeal, the court ordered him into jail.
