2,000 18-party men sued in Laxmipur

RAMGANJ (LAXMIPUR): Seven cases were filed against some 2,000 leaders and activists of BNP-led 18-party alliance on Tuesday on charge of creating violence at Ramganj upazila of the district during the 10th parliamentary polls.

Sources said police filed the cases with Ramganj Sadar Thana Tuesday morning on a charge of obstructing in government’s works, vandalizing and torching polling centers, creating sabotage in the area and so on during election.

On January 5, the voting was postponed in 21 centers in the area due to violence by 18-party men.

Officer-in-Charge of Ramganj Thana Rezaul Karim Bhuiyan PPM said police personnel were kept on full alert to detain the accused persons.
