UP chairman arrested in M’singh

MYMENSINGH: Detective Branch (DB) of Police Sunday night arrested Riyaduzzaman Riyad, chairman of Moilakanda union under Gauripur upazila of the district, on allegation of sabotaging rail tracks.

Acting on tip off, police arrested Riyaduzzaman from Baghmara area of the town.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Mymensigh district DB police Majedur Rahman said that they arrested Riyaduzzaman as a case was filed against him for sabotaging rail tracks.

Officer-in-Charge of Gauripur Thana Hamidur Rahman said that there were 25/26 cases filed against Riyaduzzaman in this regard.

On November 26, 2013, five compartments of Haor Express were derailed as 18-party activists uprooted fishplates of rail tracks in Moilakanda village during countrywide roads, rail and waterways blockade.

Mymensingh Railway Thana police filed a lawsuit in this regard.
