Khaleda concerns over Inqilab shut

DHAKA: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia expressed her concern over the shut of bangla daily Inqilab and arrest of its three journalists by the law enforcers.

Khaleda made the worry in a statement to the mass media on Friday signed by BNP office secretary Abdul Latif.  

The BNP chief said in a democratic and civilized country government can not shut the media. But, present “fascist” government has done it.   

The former premier alleged, earlier the Awami League government shut daily Amar Desh, satellite television Channel 1, Diganta TV and Islamic Television to stop voice against it.     

Allude to on Thursday (January 16) night, Detective Branch of Police sealed off the Daily Inqilab office and its press for violation of information technology act.

Police also seized computer CPU and held four journalists of the newspaper for publishing a report titled, "Indian army assist joint force operation in Satkhira".
