22 cops hurt in clash with Jamaat

GAIBANDHA: At least 50 people, including 22 police men, were injured in a clash between law enforcers and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami in Khanabari area under Sundarganj upazila of the district early Sunday.

Police nabbed three activists of Chhatra Shibir, the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, from the spot.

Witnesses said police went to Khanabari area under Ramjibon union to nab the accused around 12:00am. At stage of drive, Jamaat-Shibir men cordoned off the law enforcers.

On information, a team of joint forces rushed to the spot. Later, a clash ensued between law enforcers and Jamaat-Shibir men, leaving 50 people including 22 cops injured.
