Moudud among 5 BNP leaders denied bail

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Wednesday denied bail to five top BNP leaders including, Barrister Moudud Ahmed in three cases, including two cases filed with Motijheel Thana over violent Hefajat incident.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge M Jahurul Haque denied the bail petition after hearing on the cases.

The other BNP leaders are MK Anwar, Shimul Biswas, Rafiqul Islam Mia and Khandaker Mahbub Hossain.  

Earlier on Tuesday, a Dhaka court rejected the bail and remand pleas to five BNP leaders in two cases filed with Motijheel Thana.

On November 8, 2013, police arrested Barrister Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar and Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah from the city’s Karwanbazar area.

On the following day, Shimul Biswas were also arrested from in front of BNP chairperson’s Gulshan residence in the city.

The five BNP leaders were shown arrested in the two cases filed with Motijheel Thana for vandalism, arson and attacking law enforcers.
