5 top BNP leaders denied bail

DHAKA: A Dhaka court Thursday denied the bail petitions of top five BNP leaders in five cases, including Hefajat mayhem, filed with Motijheel and Ramna police stations separately.

Metropolitan Sessions Judge M Zahurul Haque denied the bail plea after hearing.

The leaders are BNP Vice-Chairman Major (retd) Hafizuddin Ahmed and standing committee members Moudud Ahmed, MK Anwar and Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, and Organizing Secretary Fazlul Haque Milon.

Of the leaders, Moudud, Rafiqul and MK Anwar were accused in a case for vandalism, arson and for disrupting police work during the Hefazat mayhem in city on May 5 last year.
