‘AL is politically dead’

DHAKA: Ruling Awami League (AL) is politically dead and it is now waiting to be buried. They are responsible for this situation.

BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy made the observation while addressing a meeting at the National Press Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The meeting was held by Swadhinata Forum demanding the cancellation of the 10th national polls, releasing of political prisoners as well as arranging a free and fair election under caretaker government shortly.

He also said the national poll held on January 5 was undemocratic as 95 percent of the voters didn’t cast their votes. AL is satisfied with this and it is a matter of shame, he added.

Gayeshwar Chandra Roy also criticized the interference of the MP’s on judicial system. The judges of the court are hesitating with the interventions of them, he added.

He also condemned the role of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and claimed that ACC is being partial to the MPs and leaders of the ruling Awami League.

According to him, ACC is filing cases on BNP senior leaders with fake reasons.

Gayeshwar said Awami League is responsible for attacking on minorities occurred immediate after the January 5 election.

The President of Juba Dal Moazzem Hossain Alal, Swadhinata Forum president Abu Naser M Rahmatullah, General Secretary of JASAS Monir Khan and BNP leader Khaleda Yasmin, among others, were present in the meeting.
