DHAKA:  A government leader Friday alleged that the opposition BNP is out with destructive programs like hartal to destabilize the country and thereby forestall the trial of war criminals.

“But the ruling government must try the war criminals within its tenure, and the trial be a fair and transparent one of international standards,” said Advocate Quamrul Islam, State Minister for Law, while addressing a discussion as chief guest at the National Press Club.

Biswa Kabitakantha Parishad organised the discussion on  ‘Long for Speedy Trial of War Criminals’ with Chairman of Muktijoddha Kalyan Kendra poet Jahangir Alam in the chair.

Director of Jatiya Grantha Kendra Poet Rafique Azad, organizing secretary of Krishak League central committee MA Karim and chairman of Muktijoddha Oikya Parishad Nazimuddin Ahmed, among others, addressed the meet.
