BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will soon travel to the United Kingdom (UK) for medical treatment.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already been informed about her trip. Her personal physician, Dr. A.Z.M. Zahid Hossain, confirmed the matter to reporters.
Dr. Hossain said that arrangements have been made with several hospitals in London for Khaleda Zia's treatment.
He also noted that Khaleda Zia has various health complications. Doctors have indicated that the air ambulance transporting her must have all necessary medical support.
The medical team wishes to take her to the UK before the onset of severe winter. Efforts are underway to hire a specialized air ambulance for her travel.
Khaleda Zia was released on executive order on August 6 after the fall of the Awami League government. She had been sentenced to prison in two corruption cases and spent over two years behind bars.
During her illness, she was hospitalized multiple times and spent considerable time in the hospital. The previous Awami League government did not allow her to travel abroad for treatment, leading to her undergoing surgery under the supervision of local doctors.
