BNP announces 10-day prog marking Nov 7

BNP today (Oct 31) announced a 10-day programme to mark the National Revolution and Solidarity Day, aiming to highlight the day’s significance and true history before the young generation.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Islam Alamgir announced the programme after a joint meeting held at the party’s Nayapaltan central office in Dhaka this noon.

Tarique Rahman, acting chairman of the party, joined the meeting virtually from London and gave necessary instructions to make the programme successful.

While addressing a press briefing after emerging from the meeting, Fakhrul blamed the ousted Awami League government for destroying the country’s history during its misrule over the past 15 years.

Through the observance of the day, BNP will present the true history before the new generation, said the BNP leader.

Claiming that the country has gotten rid of the fascist regime, Fakhrul said his party expects that the interim government would pave the path for holding an acceptable general election after necessary reforms within a logical timeframe.

As part of the programmes, the party flag will be hoisted atop all offices of the party across the country on the morning of 7 November 7.

Besides, BNP senior leaders will place wreaths and offer fateha at the grave of the party founder late president Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Banglanagar area of Dhaka around 10:00am on the day.

The party will also arrange a discussion meeting on 6 November and the venue for the programme will be announced later.

BNP will also bring out a procession from in front of its central office around 4pm on 8 November while similar procession will be brought out in all divisional headquarters across the country.

Alongside, BNP’s cultural wing Jasas will arrange a programme on the Central Shaheed Minar premises around 6pm on 7 November.

Amid political turmoil, soldiers and civilians on 7 November, 1975 jointly freed then chief of army staff Ziaur Rahman from captivity in Dhaka cantonment, paving the path for him to come to power.
