JP demands 5-chairman in JS body

DHAKA: The main opposition Jatiya Party prepared for placing its demand for five chairmen post in the parliamentary standing committees for different ministries from the party.

JP sources said that the opposition leader Rowshan Ershad is going to send a formal letter stating the demand to the leader of the parliament on Sunday.

JP sources further said that Presidium member of JP Kazi Firoj Rashid was recommended for president of parliamentary standing committee on Post and Telecommunication Ministry, Presidium Member of JP Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu for Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Presidium member of the party AKM Maidul Islam for Land, JP Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader for Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, JP Presidium member and also legislator Fakhrul Imam as parliamentary president for Home Ministry respectively.

The letter was issued secretly to avoid any interference of the party chairman HM Ershad, said reliable sources.

Opposition Chief Whip in the parliament Tajul Islam Chowdhury said that the process is underway in this regard and the further details will be disclosed later on.
