AL govt controls judiciary, alleges Khaleda

DHAKA: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday alleged that the government established control over the judiciary and forced judges to act as per their directives.

“The judges do not have any freedom. They are compelled to follow the directives of the government as the judiciary is fully controlled,” she said.

The BNP chief came up with the allegation while addressing a reception program of Dhaka Bar Association at Engineers Institution in the on afternoon.  

Khaleda claimed her government they did not interfere the judicial process.

Thanking BNP-Jamaat backed Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya (Blue Panel) in the election of Dhaka Bar Association; she said it is a protest of lawyers against the cruelty of the government.  

She claimed that the incumbent illegal government is responsible for violence and oppression in the country.          

Khaleda thanked the lawyers for their stand against the government and praised about their unity. “Unity is strength,” she uttered.   

She highly criticized the national polls held on January 5 and said boycotting the election was the right decision as it was unfair and illegal.                

Khaleda also alleged that the law enforcement agencies are not free rather they are being forced by the government to be partial.

She also termed the ruling Awami League is corrupted and is a barrier to the path of development.  

The investment of the businessmen reduced, moreover, the banks and share market is decaying day by day, she added.  

BNP Standing committee member and Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum president Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia presided over the program.
