‘Local govt polls should be partisan’

DHAKA: Sajib Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said that all local government elections should be held with direct participation of political parties.

He came up with the assertion while talking to media a Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 7:30am Wednesday.

On his departure to Norway over ICT sector, Joy said there is no country where any polls hold without direct participation of political parties. Only Bangladesh is exceptional. So, I think Bangladesh should take measures to enact law to hold partisan local government polls.

Sajib Wazed said that, “The export on ICT sector has increased ten times during last five years. We had a target that ICT sector will be the top export sector and five years ago we earned 25 million US dollars which now 200 million dollars.”

“Various private institutions are trying to make skilled manpower side by side the government efforts,” he said.

Meanwhile, state minister for Information and Communication Technologies Junayed Ahmed Palak and Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS) president Shameem Ahsan were present with Sajib Wazed Joy.
