BNP submits memo to Dhaka DC

DHAKA: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Thursday submitted a memorandum to the deputy commissioner of Dhaka protesting violence and ‘irregularities’ in Upazila Parishad polls.

BNP leaders and activists led, by its Dhaka district unit president Abdul Mannan, thronged the deputy commissioner’s office in Old-Dhaka area at 11:30am to lay a siege to the office and submit the memo.

After submission of memorandum, Abdul Mannan said, as deputy commissioner has received memorandum, we did not besiege the office.  

Additional police forces have been deployed in the adjoining areas of the DC office. A Water Cannon was seen standing at Ray Shaeb Bazar intersection.

No untoward situation was reported till filling the report at 11:30am.

Earlier on Tuesday, the party announced and a memorandum submission to the DCs across the country and a besiege programme to the offices of the DCs for Thursday in protest of “irregularities in Upazila Parishad election.”
