LAXMIPUR: A Union unit Chattra League leader was shot dead in the Sadar upazila of the district on Thursday night.
The deceased was identified as Robiul Islam, 30, joint general secretary of South Hamsadi Union and resident of the area.
Joint convener of district Jubo League AKM Salauddin Tipu, also newly elected chairman of sadar upazila, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He also alleged that local BNP-backed ‘Farid Bahini’ members killed Robiul at Falerhat Bazar area around 10:15pm.
Sub-Inspector of Sadar Thana Mohsin told banglanews that they sent police to the spot.
