DHAKA: Labeling the incumbent government ‘unelected’, ‘immoral’ and ‘illegal’, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said it has no rights to place the budget.

Fakhrul was addressing a discussion organized by Jatyitabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) to mark the 33rd death anniversary of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman at National Press Club in the city.

Fakhrul said, “This (Awami League) government is unelected, immoral and illegal. So, it does not attain rights to place the budget.”

He added: “A democratic government will place budget, popularly elected government can place the budget but unelected government does not have any right to place budget for the country.”

Presided over by JCD Abdul Kader Bhuiayan, former Dhaka University vice chancellor Dr Emajuddin Ahmed and BNP vice chairman Shah Moazzem Hossain also spoke.
