DHAKA: BNP lawmaker Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee was barred from going abroad at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Sunday midnight.

Anee told banglanews24.com.bd from the airport that immigration authorities obstructed him from taking a flight to Singapore for treatment.

“You don’t have ‘no-objection letter’ from home ministry,” he quoted an immigration police officer having told him.

"Speaker Abdul Hamid has ruled that I should be given scope for going abroad. Despite this ruling, I was barred from going abroad," he added.

During the June 27 hartal, Anee was injured in an attack in city`s Shahbagh area.
