Govt investigates grenade attack without political interference: Quamrul

DHAKA: State Minister for Law Quamrul Islam Tuesday said the government is investigating the August 21 grenade attack on Awami League rally without any kind of political interference to take the misdirected probe onto right track.

“The BNP-Jamaat alliance government tried to divert the investigation of the case into a separate direction,” he said.

He made the comment at a discussion meeting on commemorating the martyrs, including AL leader Ivy Rahman, in August 21, 2004 grenade attack. The meeting was organized by the AL at Bangabandhu Avenue.

Deputy Leader of the House in Parliament Sayeda Sajeda Chowdhury said, "Conspiracy is being continued to make the government unstable."

"We are not sure if the August 21 will not repeat, but we are not afraid of that," she told the meeting.

Mohila League president Ashrafunnesa Mosharraf presided over the discussion meeting.
