DHAKA: The committee on withdrawal of harassing and politically motivated cases recommended withdrawal of another bunch of 178 “politically motivated” cases.

Committee president State Minister for Law Advocate Qamrul Islam informed that the decision was taken at a meeting held at the Secretariat Sunday.

The minister said applications against a total of 713 cases had been placed for withdrawal.

Cases filed against Awami League lawmaker Nur-e-Alam Chowdhury and former minister Mosharraf Hossain are among the 178 cases to be binned.

But, no cases filed against opposition leaders were placed with the committee.
