DHAKA: BNP`s Standing Committee Member Barrister Moudud Ahmed came under a broadside fired by his party comrade and another barrister, Nazmul Huda, who called him power-monger, opportunist and selfish.

"Moudud is a man of opportunist character and he is abusing the BNP for reaping personal benefit," said the BNP vice-chairman, angry at a latest instance of factionalism in the pro-BNP lawyers’ front.

He came up with the invective at a press conference organized by Jatiyatabadi Ainjeebi Forum at the National Press Club.

Barrister Huda also commented that Moudud is familiar with the countrymen as a “political turncoat”.

He also alleged that the committee of Jatiyatabadi Ainjeebi Forum was formed at the dictate of Moudud for concentrating power into his own hands.

"He is trying to wield leadership in league with some political leaders and lawyers hailed from Noakhali," he told the press meet.

Earlier, Barrister Moudud formed a committee of the Jatiyatabadi Ainjeebi Forum with Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah as president and Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon as Secretary-General.

Barrister Ziaur Rahman Khan, Saidur Rahman Khan and Saidur Rahman were among others present at the press meet.
