COMILLA: Around 73 activists-supporters of Chhatra Shibir, student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami, were held on suspicion by police from Barapara area of the metropolitan on Friday night.

The detainees are internee doctors and students of Comilla Medical College Hospital.

Locals said Kotwali Thana police held around 110 persons on suspicion of Shibir men from a community center of the city at around 8:00 pm while they were attending a reception ceremony organized by Chhatra Shibir.

Amongst them, 73 persons were shown arrested on suspicion of Shibir men and rest others were freed after securitization.

Police sources said they were holding a meeting in the name of reception of doctors to boost up anti-government movement and create political crisis and anarchy in the country.

Acting on a tip off Kotwali Thana police nabbed them from the function.

Comilla Circle Police Super Jahangir Alam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
