Half-day hartal observed in Sylhet

SYLHET: The half day hartal, called by leftist party was observed peacefully in the metropolitan on Monday.

Hartal supporters took position at the court point of the town at around 06:00am.

President of Sylhet District Chhatra Union Sangsad Mohammad Matiur Rahman told banglanews that a procession was brought from the area at around 07:00am.

Meanwhile, all types of heavy vehicles remained stopped and some battery-run-auto rickshaw plied in roads.

Besides, long routes buses were seen to leave from central bus terminal and train service remained normal.

Additional law enforcers were deployed in various important spots of the town.

Earlier on Sunday (September 15) evening, 25 leaders and activists of Communist Party of Bangladesh and Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal (BaSad) were injured as a result of the attack of Juba league-Chhatra league activists.
