MEHERPUR: Jamaat-e-Islami has called a half day shutdown for Sunday in the district protesting Jamaat leader Delwar killing.

Jamaat’s district unit acting Ameer Siddiqur Rahaman confirmed the matter to banglanews on Friday.

He said, “We announced the strike after a meeting demanding trial of Delwar killing.”

However, two cases were filed with Meherpur Sadar Thana and Mujibnagar Thana against Jamaat-Shibr activists for their alleged involvement in clash with police during the Jamaat’s nationwide 48-hour shutdown.
