DHAKA: The ruling Awami League-led 14-party alliance will stage rallies throughout the country protesting the violence carried out by BNP-led 18-party alliance during 60-hour hartal.

Awami League Presidium Member Mohammed Nasim made the announcement at a press conference at Awami League President’s Dhanmondi office after a meeting of the 14-party alliance on Monday.

Nasim said the 18-party alliance is carrying out violence throughout the country in a bid to hinder fair election.

He alleged that the 18-party alliance is carrying out the violence intentionally in the name of hartal.

On behalf of the 14-party alliance, the ruling party lawmaker thanked the prime minister for taking the initiatives for holding a dialogue with the opposition.
