PM arrives in Sylhet

SYLHET: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, arrived in the district on Tuesday morning amid tight security.

A special fight of Bangladesh Biman carrying the premier landed at Sylhet Osmani Airport at around 10:00am

Later, she has started her Sylhet tour through performing jiarat at the mazar of Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) at 10:30am and then to go to Hazrat Shah Paran (R) for performing jiarat.

Sources said the premier will join a flag hoisting ceremony of a new division of Jalalabad cantonment, inaugurate a gas well of Koilashtila in Golapganj upazila.

She also will inaugurate and lay foundation stone of 13 others projects at MC Academy ground in the district.
    
Later, she will address a mass rally there organized by local Awami League.

Sylhet metropolitan and district police source said centering PM’s visit security measures have been beefed up in the district.

Metropolitan police media officer Mohammad Ayub, also additional deputy police commissioner told banglanews, “At least 4.5 thousands policemen have been deployed in the metropolitan city and adjacent area.”

Besides, special team of detective branch of police ‘Lions’ have remained active in the field.

Meanwhile, RAB-9 wing commander Rashed Sattar told banglanews, “Ahead of the PM’s visit tight security measures have been taken in the cantonment area.”
