BAGERHAT: At least 30 people were injured in a clash between two groups of Chitalmari upazila Awami League of the district over establishing supremacy on Thursday.

Local sources said a clash took place between the supporters of Kalatola UP member Badsha Sheikh also Awami League leader and Ekhlasur Rahman who recently joined Awami League from Jamaat-e-Islami at Char Chinkuri area of the upazila, leaving at least 30 persons from the both the sides injured.

During the time, a few houses of the surrounding area also were vandalized, sources added.

Officer-in-Charge of Chitalmari Thana said that, on information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Additional police forces were deployed to avert further untoward situation. Two cases were filed with the thana in this connection, he added.
