Khaleda’s proposal backward

DHAKA: Terming BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s interim government proposal as backward, ruling Awami League general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on Monday said there is no any potential in her proposal.

In an immediate reaction after Opposition Leader’s proposal Prime Minister’s Special Assistant (media) Mahbubul Haque Shakil came up with the assertion on behalf of Syed Ashraful on Monday evening.

Quoting Ashraful, Shakil said, “There’s nothing new in opposition leader’s proposal as it is full her personal interest and spite. It will halt the ongoing democratic practice of the country.”

He also termed the idea of unconstitutional government as like as President Ziaur Rahman’s autocracy.

Earlier in the day, Khaleda Zia offered an alternative formula to form a polls-time government led by a revered person comprising 10 ex-advisers from the 1996 and 2001 caretaker governments to be chosen by the ruling and opposition parties to hold an inclusive and credible election.
