500 opposition men sued in Ramganj

LAXMIPUR: Law enforcers filed a case against 500 leaders and activists of the opposition BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami of Ramganj municipality area of the district on the allegation of vandalism during a clash with Awami League supporters.

Sub-Inspector of Ramganj Thana Sheikh Shawkat Ali filed the lawsuit with the Thana against 500 opposition men mentioning 150 names including Forest And Environment Affairs Secretary of BNP Abdur Rahim VP on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, police arrested 12 BNP-Jamaat and Shibir leaders and activists from the scene.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge of Ramganj Thana AKM Manjurul Haque said that police was conducting drives to arrest the others.

At least 50 persons including police and journalists were injured in a clash between BNP-Jamaat, Shibir supporters and Awami League activists on Friday afternoon.
