Picketers-cops clash in capital, held 5

DHAKA: Police nabbed five hartal supporters from city’s Rampura and Gulshan area while they came out with processions and locked into clash with police on Monday morning.

In Rampura, Chhatra Dal and Juba Dal activists brought out a procession on the road at around 7:30am.

Witnesses said that law enforcers rushed to the spot, opened fire and dispersed them when they tried to vandalize vehicles. Police held two picketers from the scene.

Rampura Thana Inspector Shafin confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On the other hand picketers brought out another procession supporting hartal and blasted three cocktails in Link Road area of Gulshan at around 8:00am. Police held three persons in this connection.

Badda Thana Police Officer-in-Charge Iqbal Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The second day of 18-party alliance called 60-hour hartal is underway with sporadic violence countrywide.
