DHAKA: The mass media, ambulances, emergency health service, corpse-carrying vehicles, fire service and power- water-gas suppliers’ vehicles are spared from Sunday’s shutdown called by Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

A press release signed by joint-secretary-general of BNP Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Saturday said these utility agencies “will remain outside the purview of tomorrow’s (Sunday) hartal”.

The party leaders and activists have also been asked to ensure smooth plying of these service-providing vehicles “for mitigating the sufferings of the city-dwellers during the strike hours”.
