Bangladesh post highest-ever ODI total of 338 vs Ireland

Bangladesh have scored 338 runs for 8 in their stipulated 50 overs against Ireland during the first of three One Day Internationals at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Saturday (March 18).

This is Bangladesh's highest total in their ODI history as the previous best came against Australia (333/8) in 2019.

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and debutant Towhid Hridoy were dismissed in their 90s, with the former edging a full one to the keeper off right-arm pacer Graham Hume and Hridoy missing a half-volley that crashed onto the stumps off the same bowler.

Shakib hit nine fours for his 89-ball 93, while Hridoy hit two big ones down the ground and put away eight fours for his 85-ball 92.

Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal returned after overcoming a viral infection that had put him in doubt for the match.

But the hosts had to drop all-rounder Mehidy Hasan after a training injury to his eyes on Friday.

Ireland, who will also play three Twenty20 internationals and a Test during their tour, last visited Bangladesh for a bilateral series in 2008.

The remaining ODIs will be played in Sylhet on Monday and Thursday.
