Probe allegations against BFF president Salahuddin, 2 others: HC

The High Court on Monday (May 15) ordered the ACC to probe corruption allegations against Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials including its president Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin.

An HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the inquiry order following a writ filed earlier.

Two other officials are vice-president and finance committee chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy and former general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag.

The HC today underscored the need for an independent investigation, questioning the ability of BFF to impartially scrutinise its own alleged corrupt practices.

Consequently, the court directed the ACC to take charge of the inquiry.

Syed Sayedul Haque Suman, a Supreme Court lawyer, was at the court on behalf of the petitioner, senior lawyer Adv Md Khurshid Alam Khan was on behalf of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Deputy attorney general Saifuddin Khaled represented the state.

On April 3, Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the writ petition as public interest litigation, requesting it to order the ACC to conduct the inquiry into the allegation against the BFF officials of committing corruptions.
