India were bowled out for 436 by England, with four wickets from part-time spinner Joe Root.

The host led 190 runs at the end of the first innings in the first Test match on Saturday (jan 27).

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja top-scored with 87, adding six from his overnight total before being trapped lbw by Root on day three in Hyderabad.

India resumed the day on 421-7 in response to England's 246.

Axar Patel and Jadeja, the overnighters, got off to a cautiotious start, scoring just six runs in the first thirty minutes.

Root bowled Jasprit Bumrah on the next ball after getting Jadeja out, but Mohammad Siraj saved a hat-trick.

The visitors struggled mightily on the second day of play, and their problems were made wore by an injury to main spinner Jack Leach on a ground that was predicted to turn more.

Leach arrived on the pitch badly bandaged after suffering a knee injury during fielding on day one and again on day two.

In the morning, he only bowled one over, but root got up top finish with 4-79 figures. India's charge was spearheaded by opener Yashasvi Jaiswal (80), and KL Rahul (80), but Jadeja took command in a 78-run combination with fellow left hander Axar.
