Australia win 3-0 ODI series over Bangladesh

Australia continued their domination over Bangladesh in the Women’s ODI series, part of the ICC Championship, with another sensational win in the third and final game.

The contest, which unfolded at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, saw Aussie bowlers leading the chart and bamboozling Bangladesh to record a series whitewash.

Kim Garth destroys Bangladesh

Australia Women won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bangladesh Women took to the crease but struggled to find their rhythm against a disciplined Australian bowling attack. With wickets falling at regular intervals, they were bundled out for just 89 runs in 26.2 overs.

Nigar Sultana top-scored with 16 runs, while Marufa Akter contributed a valuable 15 runs. However, they were unable to build substantial partnerships to challenge the Australian bowlers effectively. Kim Garth was the standout performer with the ball for Australia, claiming 3 crucial wickets while conceding just 11 runs in her 7 overs. Ellyse Perry and Ashleigh Gardner also made significant contributions, each picking up crucial wickets.

Australia complete easy chase

Chasing a modest target of 90 runs for victory, Australia Women approached the run chase with confidence. Alyssa Healy led the charge with a brisk 33 off 34 deliveries, including 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. Supported by contributions from Perry (27) and Beth Mooney (21), Australia comfortably reached the target in 18.3 overs, losing just 2 wickets in the process.

Australia Women clinched a convincing victory, winning the match by 8 wickets. The Player of the Match award was rightfully presented to Kim for her outstanding bowling performance, which played a pivotal role in restricting Bangladesh Women to a low total.
