Demolishing the world-class bowling attack of the Delhi Capitals in match No.16 of the IPL 2024, power-hitter Sunil Narine smashed a 21-ball half-century to give Kolkata Knight Riders a flying start at Vizag.

David Warner dropped Narine in Anrich Nortje's first over, although the pacer removed Philip Salt before the end of the powerplay.

Taking the DC bowlers to cleaners, Narine continued his assault as the Kolkata batter notched up his career-best score of 85 off 39 balls.

While skipper Shreyas Iyer failed to fire for Kolkata, power-hitters Andre Russell (41), Rinku Singh (26) and youngster Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54) flexed their muscles on DC bowlers to help KKR post a gigantic total.

It took a pin-point yorker from Ishant Sharma to stop Russellmania from running wild in the final over as Kolkata posted 272-7 in 20 overs. Russell and Rinku fired KKR to the second-highest total in IPL's history.

Ending his wicketless run at the IPL 2024, senior pacer Mitchell Starc opened his account against DC by taking two crucial wickets. While Starc removed David Warner (18) and Mitchell Marsh (0), Impact Sub Vaibhav Arora registered his career-best figures (3 for 27) as DC folded for 166 in 17.2 overs.

Playing a captain's knock for the Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant (55) smashed his first half-century against KKR in the IPL. Tristan Stubbs also played a counterattacking knock (54) although Pant’s DC ended up losing the contest by 106 runs.

For the first time in IPL's history, KKR have won all of their first three games in the league phase.
