Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) put up a valiant effort but fell agonizingly short by one run in their IPL match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday.

Will Jacks' fiery 55 off 32 balls and Rajat Patidar's quick 52 off 23 balls kept RCB in the hunt, but they could not chase down KKR's daunting target of 223.

Jacks and Patidar's aggressive batting displayed RCB's determination to chase down the target. However, despite their efforts, RCB ended up at 221 all out, with Karn Sharma's last over blitz of 20 runs not being enough to secure the win.

KKR's Strong Batting Display
Earlier, KKR's skipper Shreyas Iyer's composed half-century and opener Phil Salt's blitzkrieg set the stage for a formidable total of 222/6. Salt's 48 off 16 balls and Iyer's 50 off 36 balls laid the foundation for KKR's innings, with contributions from Ramandeep Singh (24) and Andre Russell (27) helping them cross the 220-run mark.

For KKR, Andre Russell was the standout bowler, grabbing three wickets for 25 runs. Sunil Narine and Harshit Rana also contributed with two wickets each. Cameron Green was the most successful bowler for RCB, taking two wickets for 35 runs.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and elected to bowl first against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The decision sets the stage for an intriguing battle between two teams with contrasting fortunes in IPL 2024.

Faf du Plessis' Tactical Move
Opting to bowl first, du Plessis signaled RCB's intent to leverage their bowling strength early in the match. With KKR sitting comfortably at the second position on the points table, the pressure is on RCB to deliver a strong performance and turn their fortunes around.

Here are the playing 11 and impact player options for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL match:

KKR's strong position in the points table makes them the favorites in this encounter. Led by skipper Shreyas Iyer, KKR will look to maintain their winning streak and secure a crucial victory. On the other hand, RCB, languishing at the bottom of the points table, will be eager to stage a comeback and upset KKR's momentum.
