Fahima, Shamima shine as Bangladesh Women's 'A' beat Sri Lanka

Bangladesh Women's 'A' team clinched a 7-wicket victory over Sri Lanka Women's 'A' today (Sept 12), led by the exceptional performances of Fahima Khatun and Shamima Sultana.

Opting to field first, Bangladesh 'A' faced a strong start from Sri Lanka, whose opening pair put up 72 runs in just 12 overs. However, Fahima Khatun soon turned the tide, dismantling the Sri Lankan top order. She first dismissed Nethmi Poorna, who labored to 27 from 40 deliveries, before quickly removing the other opener, who contributed a solid 43 off 35 balls. Fahima's brilliant spell of 3 wickets sparked a Sri Lankan collapse, as the middle and lower order fell apart, with Sri Lanka 'A' managing only 112 runs.

Sri Lanka, who were 72/0 at one stage, lost all their wickets for just an additional 40 runs, thanks to Bangladesh's relentless bowling attack.

In response, Bangladesh 'A' started confidently with a superb opening partnership between Shathi Rani and Shamima Sultan. Shamima led the chase with a gutsy knock of 48 off 44 balls, anchoring the innings. Sobhana Mostary added 28 from 31 balls, further consolidating the team's dominant position. Bangladesh comfortably chased down the target with 7 wickets in hand and 7 balls to spare.

The victory was a team effort, but Fahima's pivotal three-wicket haul and Shamima's determined batting were the standout performances of the day.
