Hasan Mahmud dismisses Rohit, Gill, and Kohli

Hasan Mahmud put Bangladesh in a commanding position by claiming the prized wickets of India’s top-order trio—Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, and Virat Kohli.

The pacer’s fiery spell left India struggling early on Day 1 of their first Test match at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

By the 15th over, India had stumbled to 60 for three, with Yashasvi Jaiswal on 26 and Rishabh Pant unbeaten on 14. Hasan’s impact was immediate, as he struck in three consecutive overs, dismissing Rohit, Gill, and finally Kohli to push the hosts onto the back foot.

Kohli, the latest to fall, edged a wide delivery while attempting an ambitious drive, sending a catch straight to the wicketkeeper after scoring just six runs off six balls.

In the previous over, Hasan had also dismissed Gill for a duck, as the batter nicked a delivery going down the leg side, ending his stay at the crease after just eight balls.

Earlier in the morning, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first of the two-match Test series.
