The first day of the Test ended with South Africa firmly in charge at 307/2 with Tony de Zorzi unbeaten on 141 and David Bedingham unbeaten on 18. De Zorzi was the star of the day, scoring his first-ever Test ton which helped the Proteas cross the 300-run mark.
Tristan Stubbs also gave valiant contributions to the total by playing a brilliant knock of 108. Bangladesh bowlers will be looking to comeback stronger on the second day as if they keep on continuing like this, then the visitors’ total would easily cross the 500-run mark.
