SHEBOYGAN: Tiger Woods` final major of 2010 is in the books and what turned into a frustrating day at the office Sunday has added up to a disappointing 2010 season for the world number one.

"Disappointed, certainly," said Woods. "In order for it to be a great year you have to win a major championship.

"I won six times last year and it was a good year, yeah, but it wasn`t a great year."

Woods, who is still looking for his first victory this season, shot one-over-par 73 and hit just 21 of 56 fairways over the four days at the 92nd PGA Championship.

Four-time PGA Champion Woods came out quickly with birdies on three of the first four holes but then he stumbled off the tee.

"I didn`t miss a shot for the first four holes. And then after that I hit it awful," Woods said.

Woods headed into the final major championship of the season with his game in disarray and without a grand slam win in two years.

His last victory was in Australia in November, two weeks before he smashed his car outside his Florida home, sparking a series of scandalous revelations that damaged his marriage and put his game on a downward spiral.

Woods` round on Sunday, included four birdies, three bogeys and the double bogey. Woods didn`t hit a single fairway on the back nine Sunday and hit just three in his round.

So Woods` comeback appears to still be a work in progress. He briefly flirted with the leaderboard but then fell back.

"Just got to play well at the right time. Just four days. I just got to put it together for four days and I never did that.

"Next year`s a different set of major championship sites. Except for Augusta, but still we have plenty of time."

A week ago he had turned in the worst performance of his career in shooting 18 over at the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational.

"I hit my irons really good today. I drove it terrible," Woods said.

Woods wasn`t one of the eight players who qualified for the American Ryder Cup on Sunday. His only chance now is if Corey Pavin makes him one of the four captain`s picks. He expects to be in contact with Pavin shortly.

"Hopefully Corey will pick me on the team," Woods said. "Corey texts me a lot so, I`m sure he`ll be texting me or calling me and I`m sure we`ll be talking. We still have what, two more weeks, right? Two more weeks before the picks? Three more weeks?"

The only consolation for Woods is he still held onto his number one world ranking.

Phil Mickelson could has surpassed Woods in the rankings if he had finished solo fourth and Woods placed outside the top 46.

Mickelson shot the round of the day, five-under 67 but finished in a tie for 12th.
