With several new features, the meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is continuously working on enhancing the user experience.

The messaging app has rolled out several new features like emoji reactions for messages, surveys, transferring chats between iOS and Android, muting specific participants on voice calls and many more.

According to a report by WaBetaInfo, the instant messaging app is working on searching messages by date. The feature was first spotted in 2020 by WaBetaInfo, but it was no longer in a plan to release to the public after some time.

After releasing the WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.0.19.73 update from TestFlight, WhatsApp is planning to release this feature again.

How will the search message by date work on WhatsApp?

Currently, this feature is under development, and once the feature is released, users will see a new calendar icon when they search for a message in a conversation. With the help of a calendar icon, users can quickly jump to a certain date so they can start reading all messages from that date.

To dismiss the date view, a user must simply scroll through the conversation.

This feature will come in handy, particularly when users want to identify which messages were shared on a certain date.

Besides this, WhatsApp is also working on a new feature that will allow you to send a message to yourself while using the desktop version and the WhatsApp survey feature. With the survey feature, users can give feedback about new products, services and more after receiving an invitation.

It is unclear when these features will be rolling out, but soon we will be able to test these features in the beta version of WhatsApp.
