DHAKA: The 11,000 young men and women, who are working at 4,500 digital centers at union level, are earning from Tk 50-60 thousand per month.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's son and also her Information Technology (IT) Affairs Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy disclosed the information on Tuesday.

He made the statement in the morning while addressing ‘The Digital Center Entrepreneurs Conference-2014’ on the national parade ground in city to mark the fourth founding anniversary of Union Digital Centers (UDCs).

Joy, regarding a Bangladeshi youth’s monthly income Tk 50-60 thousand, further said that it has been made possible only for the ruling Awami League.

“At first, we have planned to establish digital centers at every village from which the locals will be benefited, but, it was not possible at that time,” he added.

The PM’s adviser further said that later their government planned to establish ‘Access to Information’ centers at union level within three years.

“But, we have made it possible just in one year,” Joy said.

“It has been proved that we are not lagging behind in terms of talent comparing to rest of the world,” he added.

Joy, however, admitted that still people are facing little bit slow internet connection but it will also be solved with high-speed broadband connection in next four years.
