BASIS Students’ Forum to be formed

DHAKA: For the first time in the country Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) has taken an initiative to create skilled manpower with a combined effort from industry and educational institutions.

In line with the effort, it is going to form `BASIS Students’ Forum’ with the students of all the public and private universities of Bangladesh. This initiative is believed to be able to create a bridge between the IT industry and the universities.

BASIS President Shameem Ahsan made the announcement at a press conference at its auditorium on Saturday.           

Shameem Ahsan said, “The long term goal of the forum is to create skilled and adequate manpower in the IT sector. The forum also targets to prepare the youth to face the challenges of the future IT world. The Forum will introduce students to real-world IT demands to prepare them, along with many other activities.”

BASIS director and convener of BASIS Students Forum Ariful Hasan Opu said the structure of the forum in every university will be made up of one mentor, one organizer and seven executive members including two female students.

Apart from that, any student from any IT-related departments or any student who has interest in IT can join the forum.

 Senior Vice-President of BASIS Russell T Ahmed and General Secretary Uttam Kumar Paul also delivered speech in the program where BASIS Vice-Chairman M Rashidul Hasan, Joint Secretary General Mostafizur Rahman Sohel, Treasurer Shah Imraul Kaeesh, Executive Director Sami Ahmed, Director Suny M Ashraf Khan and Samira Zuberi Himika were also present.
