Inspire people to get info through online

DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked the information commission (IC) to inspire people to get information of government and private organizations and put their complains through online.

The premier came up with this assertion while receiving annual report of information commission of 2014 from chief information commissioner Mohammad Faruk in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in city on Thursday.

PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim confirmed the matter to the media.

Other two commissioners Nepal Chandra Sarkar and professor Dr Khurshida Begum were also present during the report handover program.

Praising the activities of the IC, the PM said her government believes in free flow of information.

She also gave importance on the fair process of information flow, the press secretary added.

Chief information commissioner said at least 21,000 officers are active to serve people with information in government offices.

He informed the PM that people are interested to know information of land, health and education sectors.

Mohammad Faruk said they got 70,000 applications to know information and 1,095 complains were also filed last year and most of the cases have been solved.
