‘Auto Signal’ to stop vessel overloading

DHAKA: Sultanur Rahman, a student of Rangpur Polytechnic Institute, invented an ‘Auto Signal’ device to stop carrying additional passengers in vessels for lowering the number of accidents.

The device has been displayed at the final round of ‘Skills Competition-2015’ at Institution of Diploma Engineers building in city.

Education minister Nurul Islam Nahid inaugurated the exhibition, also attended by education secretary Sohrab Hossain and other officials from directorate of technical education and board.

About his invention, Sultanur said that the device named after ill-fated lunch ‘Pinak-6’ will work automatically and it will not allow the vessel to start if it is overloaded.

‘One of the major technical aspects of this invention is that if anyone tries to de-active the device, then it will send SMS to the shipping authorities regarding the incident.’

He also hoped that the device will lower the number of accidents due to overload.
