DHAKA: Mobile teams of posts and telecommunications ministry and Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will monitor biometric system SIM registration to stop harassment of customers.

Posts and telecommunications state minister Tarana Halim disclosed the matter while talking to reporters after completing her visit to SIM registration process at several retail centers in city’s Mirpur section-1 on Wednesday.

She said, “After inspection, the team will report if any extra fee is demanded from customers during SIM registration, or facing other kinds of harassment. As per the report, necessary action will be taken against the involved”.

Posts and telecommunications secretary Fayjur Rahman Chowdhury, BTRC chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmud and ministry and BTRC officials were also present at that time.
