Students complete Robi’s ‘Gori Nijer Bhobishshot’ prog

DHAKA: A total of 187 students completed the technical training program run by UCEP Bangladesh. Equipped with the precious technical skills, these underprivileged youth are well on their way to ensure a bright future for themselves.

Mobile phone operator Robi under its Corporate Responsibility (CR) initiative took up this project named “Gori Nijer Bhobishshot”, a 15-month project in partnership with UCEP Bangladesh with an aim to provide technical training on Industrial Sewing Machine Operation, Electronics and Mobile Servicing for the underprivileged youth in Chittagong.

In this connection, a certificate handover ceremony was organized today at the UCEP training center located at Ambagan of the port city.

Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) Abdus Salam attended the certificate handover ceremony as chief guest.

Robi’s Chief Corporate and People Officer Matiul Islam Nowshad handed over the certificates among the students of the program. Its Cluster Market Director for the Eastern Cluster Market Nazir Ahmed and UCEP’s Chief Executive Officer Zaki Hasan were also present on the occasion.

In order to ensure quality of the technical training program, UCEP arranged assessment and certification from the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB) for the students who completed the course and helped them with the job placement in the respective industry, said a press release on Sunday (August 28).

According to the release, Robi plans to expand this CR initiative to other parts of the country in future with technical support from UCEP Bangladesh.

Speaking on the occasion, Robi’s Chief Corporate and People Officer Matiul Islam Nowshad said, “We are truly honored to have the opportunity to be of some assistance to the underprivileged youth of our society”.

“Through “Gori Nijer Bhobishshot” we have attempted to equip this rather unfortunate segment of the youth population with technical skills that are in demand across the rising industries of the country.”

“It is indeed a matter for great pride for us to find that all who qualified are now well placed in their respective domain. We thank UCEP Bangladesh for their whole-hearted support in successfully executing this project.”

Robi’s Manager, Media Relations Ashikur Rahman; Manager, Corporate Responsibility Nadeea Khandker and Shafiqur Rahman Bhuiyan were also present on the occasion.
