Digital World-2016 ends

DHAKA: ‘Digital World-2016’, country’s largest Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-based fair, ended at International Convention city, Bashundhara (ICC,B) in city on Friday (October 21).
 
The fair, which began on Wednesday (October 19), ended on Friday night.

On the concluding day, five seminars were held where a good number of local and foreign ICT experts attended.

At least 400 tech organizations showcased their ICT products. In addition, 40 government ministries highlighted their tech-based services.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the mega event with the slogan “Non-stop Bangladesh”.

Besides, over 100 top non-government organizations presented their programs here.

During the event, over 200 experts, including 43 foreign speakers from international ICT firms like Microsoft, Facebook, Acer, World Bank, ZTE and Huawei, shared their experiences with participants in four sessions and 14 seminars.

Inaugural day’s seminars included business model for high-tech zone, expansion of e-commerce to rural areas, mobile and games and other subjects.

Besides, seven ministers from seven countries took part in a ministerial conference on “Digital Transformation”.

Second day’s seminars included Venture Capital for Startups, Leaving No One behind, Industry Readiness for Digitization of Government Services, Building a Smart Startup Ecosystem - Connecting Startups, Digital Bangladesh-Perspective Smart Dhaka, ICT Career camp, Inclusive Finance Through Technologies and Industry-Academy Dialogue for Digital Growth.

Seminars on the third and final day of Digital Bangladesh 2016 included digital security for every citizen, road to $5 billion ICT export by 2021, developers conference 2016, growing business with Facebook and leveraging benefits of ICTs to attain health-related SDGs in Bangladesh.

For the first time, the event experienced developers conference, held at the event.

Besides, cultural programs were held in every afternoon.

Bangladesh Computer Society, Bangladesh Women in Information Technology (BWIT), CTO Forum Bangladesh, E-Commerce Association of Bangladesh and Bangladesh ICT Journalist Forum assisted the government in organizing the event.
